History
Carisch was founded in 1887 by Giovanni Andrea Carisch and Arturo Jänichen for import and trading of scores and musical instruments. In a few years, in 1894, the business extends to the musical publishing trade thanks to the aid of his two sons Otto and Adolfo. Furthermore in 1949 with the support of Alberto Carisch, they also found a recording company with the aim of publishing the productions of their own authors. In a very short time it becomes one of the main brands and distributing the first records of The Beatles in Italy.
By the end of the Sixties Carisch goes through a period of deep crisis which lasts utill the beginning of the Eighties, when Maurizio, representative of the 5th generation of the Carisch family, sets up a new management in order to improve to the group. They do belong to this period outstanding publications: Sanremo Collections, monographs of Zucchero, Ramazzotti, Bocelli, Vasco Rossi, Ligabue, Pausini etc. Next to these pop music publications we also see the growing attention to the publication of classical scores, represented by great composer as Sergio Calligaris. In 1989 Maurizio decides to sell the property of Carisch to the Italian Warner Chappel Music. Under the leadership of Warner an important process of internationalization starts: in 1993 Nueva Carisch España borns and becomes more and more important with the acquisition in 2000 of the catalogue of Music Distribution. In 2005, it grows further acquiring the publishing of Real Musical, with its impressive catalogue focused on classical and didactical scores. In 1991, Warner tries to enlarge its business acquiring New Kary, specialized in musical instruments, but in a short time Warner decides to address its efforts to the publishing area.
In 2002 Monzino Group acquires Carisch, aware of the lasting tradition which has characterised this society. This strategic choice raises from two evaluations: the will of Monzino to push up the family tradition of publishing - which had started in 1772 with the birth of the great composer Giacomo Antonio Monzino. Moreover they wanted to put beside to the consolidated editorial area, the new dimension of the market of musical instrument, trying to transfer the whole the know-how the family to this new context. In 2008 a new start begins with Roberto Margini, nominated MD of the company, whose personality and capability are well known in the music world, where he started operating since the Sixties. Carisch becomes a Spa company centre of the renovate Monzino Group. Two separate divisions are settled: the first one following the path of publishing didactic scores and distributing entry level musical instruments. The second one sees the acquisition of Monsound, which focuses on the production of P.A System and the trading of professional and high level instruments.
Carisch catalogue includes 15.000 printed books, with an own production of more than 4.000 titles represented by some important authors as Giovanni Allevi, Luigi Einaudi, Roberto Fabbri, Maria Vacca, Franco Concina. The musical instruments distribution includes brands as Changye guitars, Roadster drums, Panther electrical guitar, and both professional and entry level P.A. systems as M1750, MyAudio, and DAG. Pointing out the exlclusive distruibuted trademarks as acoustic guitars José Ramirez and Fernandes, the electric Godin, Duesenberg, Zemaitis and Hayden amplifiers. In order to support these new challenges, Carisch refresh its web site creating an advanced service for its customers, which links all the different areas of musical instruments, scores and didactical methods. This new system allows the user to easily surf for information, listen and read scores and signing in for newsletters. And in the near future users will be also able to follow a musical e- learning on the web site. In 2009, Carisch leaves his historical headquarter and moves its editorial and didactical instruments division to Milan, while P.A System and Logistic division are settled in Lainate, where Monzino Group is based.
